TidyByte Terms of Use

By downloading or using TidyByte ("the App"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App. These Terms supplement Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which also governs your use of the App: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

1. What TidyByte does

TidyByte helps you free up iPhone storage by finding large videos, duplicates, and other clutter in your Photos library, letting you review and delete items, and compressing videos. All processing happens on your device. TidyByte only ever acts on your Photos library when you explicitly ask it to.

2. Your content and your responsibility

You decide what gets deleted. TidyByte only suggests items; every deletion requires your explicit confirmation. Items you delete are moved to your iOS Recently Deleted album, where iOS retains them for up to 30 days and you can restore them. Recovering items from Recently Deleted, and any permanent deletion of that album, are actions you take in the iOS Photos app and are outside TidyByte's control.
Review before you delete. You are responsible for reviewing what you choose to remove. Please keep independent backups of anything irreplaceable (iCloud Photos, a computer backup, etc.). While TidyByte is designed carefully and never deletes anything without your confirmation, no software is perfect, and TidyByte cannot restore items you have permanently deleted from Recently Deleted.
Compression creates a new, smaller copy of a video. Compression is lossy: the compressed copy will have lower visual quality than the original. Your original is kept unless you explicitly choose "Replace." Review the result before replacing an original.
Storage estimates. Some numbers TidyByte shows are estimates and are labeled as such (for example, projected compression savings). Actual space freed depends on iOS, iCloud settings, and when you empty Recently Deleted.

3. Pro purchases and subscriptions

TidyByte offers optional Pro features (unlimited compression and on-device Smart Search) via in-app purchase, billed through your Apple ID:

Monthly subscription and Yearly subscription are auto-renewable. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription automatically renews unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the price shown at purchase. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions after purchase.
Lifetime is a one-time, non-renewing purchase.
Free trials (where offered): any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Restore Purchases is available in the App's Settings and on the paywall to restore Pro on a new or reset device using the same Apple ID.
Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies: https://support.apple.com/HT204084. TidyByte cannot issue refunds directly.
Prices are shown in your local currency in the App and may vary by region. Prices for new purchases may change; existing subscribers will be notified per Apple's rules.

Smart Search requires a compatible iPhone (A14 chip or newer for the full on-device AI feature; a lighter "Smart Filters" tier on earlier supported models) and downloads an on-device model of about 300 MB, which requires free storage and (recommended) Wi‑Fi.

4. Free tier

The core cleanup features are free. The free tier includes a limited number of video compressions; Pro removes that limit.

5. Acceptable use

Use TidyByte only for lawful purposes and only on devices and Photos libraries you are authorized to manage. Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, tamper with, or circumvent the App's purchase gating.

6. Intellectual property

TidyByte, its name, logo, design, and code are owned by Senstudios. The App is licensed to you, not sold. Third-party components are licensed under their respective open-source licenses, listed in the App under Settings → Open-Source Licenses. Any third-party app or service names mentioned in the App (for example, messaging or email apps you can compress a video for) are trademarks of their respective owners and are referenced only to describe compatibility; no affiliation or endorsement is implied.

7. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. TidyByte does not guarantee any specific amount of storage will be freed, that duplicate/similar detection is perfect, or that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted.

8. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SENSTUDIOS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PHOTOS, VIDEOS, OR PROFITS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP — INCLUDING ITEMS YOU CHOSE TO DELETE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

9. Changes and termination

We may update the App and these Terms; continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. We may discontinue the App or any feature at any time. You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it; subscriptions must be canceled separately in your Apple ID settings.

Your privacy matters to us — see the TidyByte Privacy Policy at https://tidybyte.sen-studios.com/privacy. In short: your photos and videos never leave your iPhone.

11. Governing law and contact
